The Role As a Senior Process Technician, you will be the technical backbone of our molding department. You are responsible for the setup, stabilization, and optimization of complex injection molding processes for high-tolerance automotive components and precision electronic housings. We are looking for a "Scientific Molder" who goes beyond "turning knobs" to understand the why behind the polymer behavior.
Scientific Process Development: Establish and maintain robust "decoupled" molding processes (Scientific Molding) to ensure consistent part quality and cycle time optimization.
Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex molding issues (e.g., flash, splay, short shots, dimensional instability) using root-cause analysis rather than "trial and error."
New Product Launch (NPI): Work closely with Engineering during mold trials (sampling) to define the process window and provide feedback on mold design and functionality.
Automation Integration: Coordinate with the automation team to ensure 3-axis or 6-axis robots (end-of-arm tooling) are synchronized with the press for seamless part extraction.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure all processes adhere to IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards. Perform first-piece inspections and monitor SPC (Statistical Process Control) data to prevent defects.
Mentorship: Act as a technical lead for junior technicians and operators, fostering a culture of technical excellence and safety.
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on processing experience in a high-volume injection molding environment (Automotive or Electronics experience preferred).
Technical Mastery: Strong understanding of RJG, Paulson, or similar Scientific Molding methodologies.
Machine Knowledge: Proficiency with major press brands (e.g., Engel, Arburg, Husky, Fanuc, or Milacron) and their respective control systems.
Material Expertise: Deep knowledge of engineered resins (e.g., PBT, Nylon/GF, PC/ABS) and their specific processing requirements.
Tooling Logic: Ability to identify mold issues (venting, cooling, gate wear) versus processing issues.
RJG Master Molder I or II certification is highly desirable.
Experience with hot runner systems (Mold-Masters, Yudo, etc.).
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing (5S, Kaizen) and SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) principles to reduce changeover times.
Cutting-Edge Tech: Work with the latest in all-electric presses and advanced robotic cells.
Stability: Long-term career growth within a global Tier 1 supplier.
Comprehensive Benefits: Competitive hourly rate/salary, overtime opportunities, 401k/RRSP matching, and premium health coverage.
